A highly respected national law firm, recognised for its excellence across multiple practice areas, is seeking an experienced Law Costs Draftsperson to join its established team based in the City of London.

The Role:
You will join a busy and supportive Costs team responsible for all aspects of legal costs recovery and management. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, a solid understanding of costs law, and the ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and prepare inter partes bills of costs, costs budgets, Points of Dispute, and Replies
- Prepare 3- or 6-column and electronic bills
- Manage the service of bills and associated documentation
- Conduct costs negotiations and attend detailed assessment hearings when required
- Draft estimates of costs, Precedent H budgets, and related schedules
- Provide technical guidance to fee earners and support junior team members
- Maintain accurate time-costing and file management procedures
- Ensure compliance with internal processes and deadlines
Key Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Costs Law, including drafting Legal Aid and inter partes bills
- Strong knowledge of CPR, LAA Costs Assessment Guidance, and relevant legislation
- Experience managing your own caseload from start to finish
- Excellent negotiation and analytical skills
- Proficiency in costs drafting software (e.g., Costsmaster) and Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail, organisation, and communication
- Professional, proactive, and client-focused approach
- Previous supervisory experience advantageous but not essential
